This is a beautiful story of a different culture. The author captures the emotions very well. Can't wait until the sequel comes out.
Just finished reading this book tonight. I bought it at a garage sale a few months ago and finally picked it up.
The first half of the book was very enjoyable! I enjoyed learning life through the eyes of Nali. Her fears and joys became real to me.
It wasn't until halfway through that the book began to fall apart for me. There didn't seem to be any plot. I enjoyed the culture and people, just lost at the reasoning.
The most difficult thing was the change in Nali's husband. How did he go from good to bad again? I didn't see enough motive, considering he was kind and loving only a few chapters before.

Nali's death was truly heartbreak. I spent the last few hours pouring my thoughts and time into Nali, only for her to die. I understand why you did it, as I might have done it as well, but it was a let down.
Other than that, I did finish it. I hope Petre does a good job leading the people and change does come to the village.
